Sugimoto believes that the so-called life is a play, an improvised one, and he is the director of his own. According to different situation, he can pretend to be a really nice person, while sometime as a paranoid artist bluffing others with mean behavior.
ARTE has long dedicated in producing cultural and arts programs. For this documentary, it took more than 200 days of close-up interview with Sugimoto, and Sugimoto answered their efforts by trying his best in playing as "himself". After the test screening, Sugimoto found it surprisingly interesting how a play within a play can be, as if lies can occasionally become truth.
